Christian Pastoral Education
Tabitha training institute puts a high emphasis on the integration of theology and psychology. Through your study you will learn to evaluate and integrate psychological concepts in the light of Gods revealed Word and to apply these principles in your profession as a pastoral therapist.
Biblical concepts like sin, forgiveness, the human nature, the fruits of the Spirit, the human conscience, responsibility, maturity, etc. are used as building blocks for a Christian psychotherapy.
The basis for this integration is found in the ‘unity of truth’ principle’. All truth is God’s truth. Therefore science and Christian belief do not have to be in conflict. This integration is possible on different levels: on a conceptual level (Biblical and scientific principles); on the level of methodology (between person and method); and on a personal level (within the person). The process of integration is implemented within Tabitha in the form of learning therapy and supervision which helps a student to integrate these principles in his own life and profession. Much attention is given to the attitude of the student, because we believe that faith, hope and love are important factors in psychotherapy.
On a scientific level Tabitha derives many principles from the regular psychotherapeutic schools. These principles are filtered and tested against Biblical norms and values. The result is a product of high quality for the client, student and social worker.
